According to MetService, an anticyclone is likely to bring sunny warm weather for this weekend’s sport.

“For those going to the first round Super Rugby games or taking part in Wellington’s Round the Bays and Half Marathon events, this is likely to be a slip-slop-slap weekend,” commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt.

“There is a procession of high pressure systems moving from the Tasman Sea to Chatham Islands.  Fine warm weather is on the menu, apart from a few showers possible about Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay and, from late Friday to late Saturday, some rain for the southwest of the South Island.”

McDavitt added that although the peak of summer has passed, this sunny period should still bring daytime highs into the mid-twenties around much of the North Island.
