A cooler change

April 29, 2013

A southerly change is set to make the air feel cooler for many of us as we head through the rest of the week. During Tuesday, a southerly change will push northwards over the South Island bringing with it some colder air.

MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist John Law commented, “It is going to be a noticeable change as we head through the week, especially for the likes of Christchurch where top temperatures are likely to be around the mid to low teens and overnight minimums will be down towards freezing in the early hours of Wednesday and Thursday mornings.”

Although the temperatures over the North Island are set to stay a little warmer, temperatures are likely to fall low enough to give a touch of frost about the Desert Road later in the week.

Towards the end of the week, an active trough is likely to work its way across the country bringing some wet weather and even some snow for the higher ski fields.
